SaraBeth

Just A Few Highlights

Upcoming Appearances:In the next three weeks she appears in: Lebanon, Monrovia and Zionsville. Three other dates/places are being negotiated at this time as well.

Saturday, August 16 found Sara Beth onstage in Elwood at the Glass Festival. She was happy to return to this nice town and pleasant people. The heat was almost unbearable, but everyone still had a great time. SB did a 45 minute show, and the happiness that singing brings her was clearly obvious. Thank you, Elwood, for welcoming her back once again and for the appreciation you show for her music!

The State Fair shows on opening day, August 6, were great! The sound system and engineers were awesome, the crowds were wonderful audiences, the stage manager, Marci, was as sweet as she can be! Sara Beth had alot of fun doing those shows, and she looks forward to next year as well. We met alot of nice people,  made some new promising contacts, which is one of the fun parts of this business. Thanks to the many people from the hometown that took time out of their busy schedules to come and see her State Fair debut. It was better because you all were there.

It was a perfect night at the Boone County fair talent show this year. We so much enjoy watching all the talented people from our area. What a tough decision the judges had! Congratulations to the category winners, and best of luck in the State Fair competitions. Sara Beth entertained with 3 songs as the judges were tallying the scores, as she has for the past 5 years. This was the first place Sara Beth ever sang, when she was just 4 years old, and it will always hold a special place in her heart. Nancy Guernsey deserves a round of applause for all of her hard work in putting this on year after year.

Sara Beth made some great new friends at Colgate Country Showdown in June in two talent promoters from Take 5 Productions in Nashville, TN.These guys were great! Not only did they give her complimentary tickets to the Steve Azar concert, but once we were there, they invited us to the 'Green-Room' where Sara Beth was able to meet and talk with recording artists Lindsey Rene' and Tim Gillahan, and also Steve ("Waitin' On Joe") Azar himself!Of course,we did picures and Sara Beth also did a little backstage singing, and had a great time.It was a great honor to meet these extremely talented artists, and an inspiration for SB.They were all so warm and welcoming to us, and what a show they put on! Wow! It's a night she'll always remember, and all thanks to her new friends from Take5.

We were extremely disappointed to have to cancel theNew Haven Canal Days appearance. It is the first show we've ever cancelled in 7 years. Our apologies again!

Sara Beth had a blast singing in the Country Showdown at Columbian Park. She was the youngest participant, and can't wait till next year. It's always fun (and amazing) to experience the other talent out there! She wishes to compliment all participants on their hard work and dedication, and wishes them all much success in their musical endeavors.

We've already had many people asking about the 'Back to the Fifties' festival this year. The committee has made some changes, and the only solo performer this year will be the Elvis impersonator.Sara Beth will not appear there this year. She has really enjoyed the last 4 years, and I know some of you have expressed anger and disappointment over this change, but don't....sometimes changes have to happen! The festival will be as fun as ever, and I know Sara Beth will be there to enjoy it.You always have to prepare to move on, and just think...many new doors are opening for her, new venues are calling!

You may recall,Sara Beth did a half-hour show at the Indianapolis 500 Festival in 2000.It's a great honor that without even applying, they have contacted her to come back in 2001,2002 and this year.It was a good experience for her,but it is the one venue she's chosen not to return to due to the noise. We do appreciate the invitations, though!

Sara Beth entertained with one song at the annual Cragun House Tea. Sig Myers II accompanied her on the piano. We felt so fortunate to have someone so talented play for her; this is a young man with MUSIC in his future, definitely! Sara Beth sang the Stephen Foster song, "Beautiful Dreamer." This is a song written in the 1800's, and is a very different style for her, but what a lovely song it is!

Sara Beth had a great time performing for the LICA Convention. What a fine and friendly crowd, and a pleasure to be asked there. She did her 45 minute show without even so much as a sip of water! Following Sara Beth's performance, her old friends, Country & Company (bka: Diana Kirby and Willidean Wells) took the stage. It was a fun-filled evening.

Sara Beth very much enjoyed entertaining at the holiday party for the Donaldson Corporation. The event was held at Embassy Suites in Indianapolis. She did her half-hour show, and wants to thank the audience for making her feel so welcome, and being generous. She made enough money to provide 2 children with a nice Christmas!

The show in Frankton,Indiana followed their local Heritage Days Festival Prince and Princess Contest. Though the night was rainy and bleak, the performance went well. The drive home (about an hour and a half) was rather treacherous due to heavy downpours of rain, but we made it! Sara Beth is thankful to the Frankton community for her warm reception.

Friday the 13th was a wonderful night for "Back to the Fifties." Sara Beth did a superb 30 minute show, prior to the band playing. Perfect weather and a big crowd put her at her best. She loves playing to her hometown crowds best of all! If you were there, a big surprise was planned for her closing number. Barney the Beagle from Channel 8 News was supposed to join her onstage. The poor doggie was nervous about the noise, and reluctant to leave his "daddy." Maybe next time.....
Anyway, Sara Beth thanks all who watched her show, and we thank you all for the uplifting compliments and support that we've received. It's great to know how happy she makes so many of you with her performances; that, after all, is her main goal.
A VERY SPECIAL THANKS TO OUR BELOVED DIANA KIRBY FOR DOING SUCH A FANTASTIC JOB ON SOUND!!!

On Wednesday, September 11, Sara Beth was again asked to take part in the 9-ll Memorial Ceremony on the courthouse square. She offered her heartfelt rendition of "God Bless America" early in the lineup. The entire ceremony was very touching, beautiful and well put together. The community owes much appreciation to June Harwood. This special lady planned this event almost singlehandedly! Wonderful job, June. The Ceremony aired on the local channel 19 four times, and Mr. Jim Maines did a GREAT job with that! He should take his talents to Hollywood! I hope everyone got the chance to see it!

Zionsville Fall Festival was fun this year, although the heat was sweltering. After having rain on this date the past 2 years, we were thrilled with what we got! The folks in Zionsville are always quite receptive to Sara Beth, and it's nice being welcomed back there each year.

Although Sara Beth had a terrible cold and was unable to practice, she wouldn't think of calling off her Elwood Glass Festival appearance; cancel is not in her vocabulary!
She was thrilled to be one of a series of opening acts for Sandi Patti, the Christian singer. Her voice held out for the half-hour show, and it was moving when the entire crowd stood throughout her last song. This was her first Elwood appearance, and she's already been asked back next year!

Sara Beth appeared in the Lebanon 4th of July Parade. She was sponsored by Pearson Ford of Zionsville, and sang the entire route from the back of a very COOL truck! Though the heat was sweltering, she enjoyed sharing in the celebration with the community. She was heart-broken that Bob-a-Roadie couldn't be there, but driver Steve filled in and did an awesome job. Pam, Cory & Janet worked hard as well. These people working behind the scenes are greatly appreciated; nothing is possible without them!

Playing dual roles in "Bugsy Malone, Jr." was time-consuming, but very enjoyable. How cool was that silly string??? Sara Beth played the parts of "Laughing Boy", one of Dandy Dan's gangsters and a main "splurger", and "Samantha Scoop"...who was...what else? A very pushy, in-your-face reporter. As always in theater, she met and made new friends, and memories that will last forever!

Singing for Pamaida, Inc. at the Ramada Inn was great fun! What a night!

Sara Beth felt a great sense of compassion, honor and pride when she was asked to sing for the Veteran of Foreign Wars September 11th Memorial Service for all those who lost their lives. It was a poignant ceremony for all. The ceremony occurred exactly one week to the minute that the first plane hit the towers.

What It Really Takes
Sara Beth loves to sing, it's what makes her happy; but there is alot more involved than the finished product you see onstage. Singing is hard work, and takes alot of planning, dedication, and, of course, practice!
First, there is the song selection process, which can be tricky since she is so young. We try to find songs that are somewhat age-appropriate, and we have been known to change a word here and there to make it work! Once the song is selected, and music acquired, Sara Beth begins learning the song. She memorizes them as quickly as possible, then begins to map out choreography for the song as she practices. Once the song and choreography is completed, there is still much more practice! She likes to bring each song as close to perfection as she possibly can. Sara Beth normally practices about an hour a day.
She is devoted to her singing career, but not so busy that she can't enjoy being the little girl that she is! Time is used wisely, and there is never any shortage of time for plain old fun. We always remember to keep our focus on the things that are really important, including childhood, family, pets, friends, school and church, not necessarily in that exact order.
So, yes, Sara Beth loves what she does, and it does look "easy"; but now you know the time and energy that's really behind it all!
